Anxiety Disorders

For most people anxiety is fed by worrying about what could go wrong in the future or by fears of re-experiencing situations that caused pain in the past. You may also be experiencing physical symptoms such as shortness of breath, rapid heart beat, tightness of the chest, dizziness or sweaty palms. Regardless of the particular symptoms, anxiety can be debilitating and overwhelming. If you feel your worrying or fears have impacted your ability to function or fully enjoy life, therapy may be warranted.

Therapy can help you:

  • Become less anxious and worried
  • Learn skills to monitor and change negative beliefs and thought patterns
  • Discover new ways to channel your thoughts
  • Distinguish fears from reality
  • Tolerate and better understand your fears and anxieties
  • Become less afraid of your thoughts and feelings
  • Develop better and more effective self regulation and coping skills
